Hsieh Ting-wei captured both the ThreeBond Challenge Tour money title and Rookie of the Year honors in 2025. In addition to receiving trophies for Money Leader and Rookie of the Year, he also earned NT$500,000 in prize money exclusively sponsored by Taiwan Fu Hsing Industrial Co. He said that the Rookie of the Year award is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for professional newcomers, and that he values this honor even more than the Money Leader title. His results in 2025 also gave him a satisfying answer for himself.
He claimed two victories on the ThreeBond Challenge Tour and also recorded strong performances on the Taiwan Tour, including a tied third place at the Sun Flower TPGA Championship, marking his personal best finish on the Taiwan Tour. He ended the 2025 Taiwan Tour season ranked 13th. In addition to winning the Challenge Tour money title, his outstanding performance throughout the year earned unanimous recognition from the judging panel, leading to his selection as Rookie of the Year. In 2026, he will be eligible to compete in several major Taiwan Tour events, including the three majors and Asian Tour tournaments, as he pursues his best performances.
He mentioned that he has always clearly understood that, since his amateur days, his physical condition was his weakest point. After going to the United States for further studies, this weakness became even more apparent. During his time competing for collegiate teams in both undergraduate and graduate programs in the U.S., his results did not improve significantly. However, after returning to Taiwan and turning professional, competing throughout 2025 on both the Taiwan Tour and the Challenge Tour helped him regain his technique, and his performances began to show. This brought him strong affirmation and encouragement.
He said he hopes this marks a good beginning, and that in the new year he will continue to maintain his strengths, keep striving on the Taiwan Tour and the international stage, and aim for strong results.
He believes his advantages lie in maintaining a positive competitive mindset and spending more time thinking through course strategy. He plans every step and every shot, choosing ball flights that best suit him with higher success rates, and executes them effectively. As a result, his finishes in 2025 were very consistent, with only one Taiwan Tour event in which he failed to make the cut.
He competed in the final stage of Asian Tour Qualifying School and ultimately finished around the low 90s, which allows him to play on the ADT Tour in 2026. He will also focus primarily on the Taiwan Tour. Therefore, his 2026 goal is to secure at least one victory on either the ADT Tour or the Taiwan Tour. “However, I won’t rush to achieve this goal — I will move forward step by step in a steady and grounded way.”
